Q: Can I share a room with another contestant?
A: Only MISS Contestants may share with another contestant. Teens are required to share with a parent or guardian. Ms. Contestants can share with a family member or friend, but not another contestant.

Q: Can I book my room through a travel agent?
A: ALL Contestants MUST book their room at the discounted rate of $165 plus tax rate which includes daily breakfast for 2 and free wifi. You must use the link provided by the hotel or call the reservations number above and ask for the Miss Black USA rate.

Q: Do I have to pay for my room in full now?
A: No, you need to reserve your room with a major credit card . You will pay upon check-in.

Q: How do I let Miss Black USA know that I have reserved my room?

Q: What day are we required to be in D.C.?
A:
Tuesday, July 30, 2024. All contestants are required to arrive by 3:00pm on July 30th and check-out on August 5th. You are encouraged, but not required to arrive the day before to give yourself a chance to unpack, relax and prepare for the kick-off of pageant weekend! Note: Teens and Ms. Contestants ONLY may check out on August 4th unless they prefer to stay over and attend the Miss finals the evening of August 4th.

What day/time is contestant registration?
A:
Contestant Registration is from 11am to 1:00pm for Teen and Ms. Division. Contestant Registration is 1:00pm to 3:00pm for Miss division. If you arrive before 4:00pm p.m., you may check at the front desk to see if your room is ready. If it’s ready, they will allow you to check in. However, check-in is not guaranteed until 4:00pm. Feel free to visit the Soror Cosmetics Hospitality Suite and pick up some amazing gifts and enjoy some light refreshments for Contestants only!

When will we receive an agenda?
A:
Please use the sample itinerary as a guide. The final itinerary will be released to you two weeks prior to your arrival. Please note, the itinerary is for your use only not for public consumption for security purposes. The guide gives you a sample itinerary. Do NOT use it for wardrobe purposes. Refer to the Wardrobe guide in the Contestant Guide document.

Can I check into the hotel a day or so early?
A:
Yes, you may check into the hotel up to 2 days prior at the $165 plus tax pageant rate.

Q:
When can I book my hotel reservation?
A:
You may book your room immediately. You will be provided with a hotel confirmation number that you will use upon check-in. All contestants must provide the pageant with their confirmation number as proof of their reservation. Upload your confirmation number here.

Q:
Do I need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test?
A:
Yes, for your safety and well-being and that of the other contestants, the pageant requires that at contestant registration on July 30th, you provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test within three calendar days of arrival. You should check with Delta or whichever airline that you fly to determine what, if any requirements they may have. No exceptions.

If I arrive at the hotel before check-in at 4:00pm on July 30th what should I do?
A:
You can check with the front desk to see if your room is ready. If it’s ready, they will allow you to check-in. If not, feel free to stop by the “Soror Cosmetics Hospitality Suite" and enjoy some light refreshments, and pick up the gift that she has for you.

Q:
Does the hotel require a deposit for amenities?
A:
Yes; the deposit is $50 per night for incidental charges. An incidental charge is a deposit which the hotel puts on your credit card to cover any charges which you may incur not including room and tax. At check out time, your credit card will only be charged the actual amount which you have spent e.g. room rate, dining, spa services etc. If you don’t make any charges, you will receive the full refund.

Q:
Should I use a debit card for the deposit for incidentals?
A:
You should either use a regular credit (not debit card); otherwise it takes longer to get the refund back to your card. If you have a roommate, you can arrange between the two of you who will use their card and split the deposit.

Q:
I have strict and special dietary requirements?
A:
Please bring what you need with you or arrange to get it when you arrive as we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate you at every meal. We certainly will do our best.

Q:
Should I pack snacks for in-between meals?
A:
Yes, if you get hungry often or require in-between snacks, be sure to bring them with you. Sometimes rehearsals will go over and meal time will be delayed. Keep snacks with you. If you have medical requirements, please let us know so that we may accommodate you.

How many meals are covered?
A:
Most meals are covered once you arrive in D.C. on August 2nd except three.

A:
Yes; only 15 minutes away.

What is the official airline of Miss Black USA?
A:
Delta Airlines is the official airline of Miss Black USA and is offering a discount on their published fares to contestants and their family and friends traveling to the pageant. See booking instructions in the Contestant Guide. Be sure not to use the "A" in front of the authorization discount code. Meeting code will be announced soon.

Q:
When can I book my flight to D.C.?
A:
You can book your flight or other mode of travel once you have a booking code. Travel insurance is highly encouraged.

Am I required to use the official airline of the pageant if I’m flying?
A:
No; you may use whichever carrier you prefer. The benefit of flying Delta is they offer a discount and their change fees and penalties are less than most other carriers.

The quickest way to get from Washington Reagan Airport (DCA) to Westin Arlington Gateway Hotel is to taxi which costs $16 - $20 and takes 15 mins.

Once I land at DCA Airport, what do I do next?
A:
Take a Queen selfie of course! Go to baggage claim to claim your luggage. You can ask the gate agency when you get off the plane and into the gate area directions to baggage claim.

Does Washington, DC have more than one airport?
A:
The Washington, DC area, also known as the DMV has 3 local airports. D stands for District of Columbia, M stands for Maryland and V stands for Virginia. These three states border on each other. However, DCA is the closest airport for downtown Washington, DC and is only minutes away from most hotels in D.C.

BWI Airport is just outside of Washington, D.C. It is approximately 55 minutes away from downtown D.C. A taxi would run you between $100-$130 one way.

IAD Airport which is a local airport in Virginia, outside D.C. is approximately 35 minutes away from downtown D.C. A taxi would run you between $85-$110 one way.

In summary, fly into DCA. DCA is also one of the easiest airports to enter and exit. Taxi’s are readily available outside baggage claim.
